I’m done with sprites and animations, kind of, there’s still some left but I rather do them alongside some backgrounds to match them better, and some other that I haven’t done, like some traps which I don’t know if they’ll work so I rather wait instead of wasting that time in case I decide not to use them, like this unused sprite that will never be used ever, spending time making things you end up not using kinda sucks, also I completely forgot the “game over room” ones, which feel redundant at this point, but whatever I’ll have to do those eventually, I regret that though, it was supposed to be a universal respawn point but that won’t work anymore since given some changes a traditional checkpoint system before important points was necessary anyway, kind of a waste… oh well…

Not much to say anymore… just keep working gaddamit.

    Great to see more progress on this! I’m really excited for this game. The new backgrounds look really good!

    I’m a proponent for static traps in addition to mobile enemies… I like the ones available in the demo. From a strictly game design perspective (and not just because I like it when Vena is captured >.>), traps can also add a mild puzzle element to mix up the gameplay a little bit and force the player to rethink their approach to the room or area. Right about when the player has mastered stunning and defeating traditional enemies… that’s the perfect time to include some kind of trap that requires a new strategy to bypass it. 😀

    I know that you are using GameMaker, but have you considered Unity to make your games ? It is very capable for 2D things nowadays

    • Don’t know how to use it, it takes a long time to learn a new software and a new language, also I don’t see any downsides with GM, there would be no reason to change.

    Just curious where things stand in relation to that post you made in June. I hope this doesn’t come off as pushy, I always prefer good games to rushed games, so I’m not looking for an ETA or anything because I figure it’s out when it’s out. I was just curious about where in the process you are. Like I think I know, but I just found that post interesting and I’m curious if I’m right

    • The process changed a bit from that post.

      Right now I’m doing backgrounds and level design, without enemies yet, I’m also putting the sequences and dialogs in place already in it’s final from, which means I’m also correcting and giving final polish to the script at the same time.

      After that comes enemy placing, difficulty and behaviour polish; then add some traps from scratch (haven’t had time to work on those); then music and sounds; then systems (saving, checkpoints, options, etc) and then final testing and polish, maybe I’m forgetting about a couple of things but we’re close to the final stretch, still no accurate ETA or anything.
